Kicking Off with Meri Hernandez’s Live Training Session
We began our Pride celebrations with a live training session by Meri Hernandez, widely known as @irelandsfavouritegay on TikTok. Meri is an influential voice in the LGBTQ+ community, and her talk focused on LGBTQ+ awareness and self-expression. This session was enlightening and engaging, offering our team valuable insights into the experiences and challenges faced by the LGBTQ+ community. It was a fantastic opportunity for all of us to learn, grow, and become more inclusive in our daily interactions.
Sweet Treats for All Shifts
What better way to celebrate than with some delicious treats? To coincide with Meri’s talk, we provided Pride-themed sweet treats for both our day and night shifts. These colourful and delightful goodies were warmly welcomed by the team!!! It’s a simple yet meaningful way to show our appreciation for everyone at GSLS and to spread the joy of Pride Month.
Bingo Pride: A Fun-Filled Event
The team were all ready for the excitement of our Bingo Pride event! There was a mix from first-timers to Bingo Veterans, this session was great fun for everyone. It proved to be a great way for the GSLS team to come together, have fun, and enjoy some friendly competition. To add to the excitement, there were prizes to be won – Dunnes Stores vouchers of various values. Another fun event that gets everyone involved in activities and conversations for Pride Month.
Pride Tribute: Sharing Stories and Inspiring Change
One of the most impactful events we have planned is the Pride Tribute. We are sharing inspirational stories and interviews from LGBTQ+ members from various backgrounds. These videos provide a platform for people who are in the LGBTQ+ community to share their journeys, discuss what it’s like to be part of the LGBTQ+ community, and address the stigmas and struggles they still face today. The Pride Tribute aims to educate, foster open-mindedness, and encourage everyone at GSLS to become better allies and advocates for our LGBTQ+ colleagues, friends, and family members.
Pride Trivia Quiz: Test Your Knowledge
To wrap up our Pride Month of celebration is the Pride Trivia Quiz. This is a fantastic opportunity for GSLS team members to test their knowledge about LGBTQ+ history, culture, and current issues. It’s sure to be a competitive and enjoyable event, with the grand prize being a Dunnes Stores voucher worth €50! So, start brushing up on your trivia knowledge and get ready to compete with your colleagues.
